Fat Loss Diaries - Week Five

Hello my friends.

There's something wonderful about entering a new week feeling totally organised. Even if it means staying up until ridiculous hours just to get the organisation completed! Basically, running a business and having kids is HARD WORK. I love it all the same but trying to keep on top of my own fitness goals as well as running a start up business and being present for my children is proving rather challenging. Proof being I still only got in the gym this week twice, when I really wanted it to be three times. However, I did manage a 7k run this week (WHAAAAAT) which is one of my longer runs and I would really like to keep building on that because it's something I am really enjoying at the moment. Exercise SHOULD be about the joy of movement!

But discussing organisation, I have consistently been filling in my wellness journal this week which has really helped with my productivity and made sure I am doing the jobs that need to be done each day whilst ensuring I am taking time for my own wellbeing and mental health. Something about writing it down really makes a difference. Even just pencilling in time for rest, I am more likely to relax and read before bed if I have written down in the morning that I will ensure I do a rest activity that day and my mental health is all the better for it.

Overall, my week has been pretty consistent. My average steps is over 11,000 because I am making sure I walk every day and step into nature which again, is a contributing factor to my mental health. I hit the gym twice plus a run and my nutrition has been on point which is proven by the new low this week of 66.1kg. When I started this 12 week blogging weight loss journey, I weighed 70.8kg so I know that I am eating enough in a deficit and moving my body for the scale weight to be dropping consistently. I am holding myself accountable by logging my journey on here and I am still overwhelmed by the amount of people that read this blog and tell me they've been watching my journey and have found it inspiring. It's why I do my job. Plus I really think it's important to practice what I preach so that I can truly understand the difficulties ladies and mums can experience when trying to maintain a level of self care within their fitness goals whilst working and raising a family. As women, we do A LOT.

It really hit me this week how much your fitness, walks outside, going to the gym or doing workouts at home and prioritising nutrition IS self care. It comes under that umbrella. Traditionally we may consider self care as putting on your makeup or doing a skincare routine when really these are just for the outside. If you want to look after your body for the sake of longevity of life you need to be thinking about what's going on inside. The outside will feel all the better for it too especially when you're eating a healthier diet and taking regular exercise. Not only will you be healing yourself, but you'll be healing those around you too.

I put a quote up on my Instagram this week that said "when you start to heal, you heal those around you" as I heard it on a Cassia Tierney-Clarke podcast. A lot of ladies responded to this and related to it. Because it is so true! You are not being selfish by looking after yourself. Along the way you will be inspiring more and more people to come on that journey with you and it's not all about weight loss. It may start off there but somewhere along the way you'll find an inner love for yourself and it will shine through. People around you will thank you for shining brightly and becoming your true self. Especially your children. Making your fitness journey even more of a priority.

So this week I will keep plugging away at the habits that are healing my body and soul. I feel stronger every week too, with the weights in the gym getting heavier and my body being able to run further distances, this stuff really excites me and I am so glad that I am getting to bring you with me!
